About Bushes and Briars
Bushes and Briars is a five-piece band with own caller to teach you the dances.

Barn Dance or Ceilidh?
Bushes and Briars provide what most people will recognise as a Barn Dance except that it is a British Barn Dance- not an American Square Dance.
A Barn Dance consists of British traditional music played in Bushes and Briars own upbeat and very unique style for entertaining people at parties and social functions.
A Ceilidh is the Gaelic name for something very similar- a party but with some singing or other entertainment in between dances. In both cases the dances are never too complicated and the music is always lively but all guests are expected to participate in the fun.
The Caller tries to make it as simple as possible to understand, especially as the evening wears on and guests have had a chance to warm up on a few drinks!
Weddings and other parties
Bushes and Briars provide a tailor-made programme for weddings and other parties, as the time breakdown for each one is highly individual.
We are always ready to play at the times you want. We are particularly experienced with weddings and take great trouble to fit in with your plans, including set-up during the morning or afternoon if necessary although his usually incurs a small extra fee as it involves much linger working hours.
We do not take bookings where another band or DJ has also been booked as it is always difficult to make such evenings work well. We are able to provide our own disco-type ending to parties if required
Although we do include some Scottish dances in our musical repertoire, we do not claim to be a Scottish band.
Based in Maldon, Essex and will travel up to 140 miles.
